What is the relationship between the size and flow of peristaltic pump tube?

In the whole peristaltic pump system, the size of the tube is in direct proportion to the flow, because the larger diameter tube will also transmit more liquid at one time. The transmission process can be known through the working principle of the peristaltic pump (described in detail later). The larger pump tube size and rotor diameter will produce a larger “fluid pillow” (the space occupied by the fluid in a section of the pump between adjacent rollers in the pump head), The corresponding traffic will also be more.

Working principle of peristaltic pump

As shown in the figure above, the pump’s gland and roller press the tube tightly, and the tube between the two rollers presents a pillow shape. When the roller rotates, the elastic conveying tube will be alternately squeezed and released to pump fluid. With the rolling of the roller, the elasticity of the hose will constantly restore the original shape of the pump tube, forming a negative pressure at the pump inlet, prompting the liquid to flow and fill the tube to achieve the purpose of transmission. The pillow volume formed is related to the wall thickness, inner diameter and roller size of the peristaltic pump tube. The flow of the pump depends on the speed of the pump head and the wall thickness of the hose. Generally, the volume of liquid delivered each time is the same (except for viscous liquid). When it comes to peristaltic pump, we have to talk about its pulsation. In the case of the same diameter, a pump with a large pillow volume will produce a large pulsation, which can be reduced by connecting pump heads in series.

Peristaltic pump tube notes:

1. The quality of peristaltic pump tubes needs many factors. We try to buy them from the peristaltic pump manufacturer, Lead Fluid Professional manufacturers have better control over the tubes, so that we can use them with confidence.

2. Pay attention to the environment. Different environments have different effects on materials.

3. Different tubes with different specifications and materials are required for different liquids. If they are mixed, it is easy to cause liquid pollution or reduce the service life of the equipment.
